Making your own home brew for your own home bar is a great idea for anyone who wants to stand out among his friends. You can get a plain beer tap handle and write your name on tape. When you bottle your beer, you can have a white sticker with your handwritten logo printed on it. But, you can step up your game with a logo design of your own.

If you have a logo design, skip this next section. I want to give readers some ideas for how to come up with their own logos and then I'll get into helping people find the tools they need to have a beer logo all their own.

Normally when I start thinking of a brand design, I begin with the first letter or letters in the name. If you were making Brooklyn's Finest Beer, the letters B, F and B again are where I would start. Finding a great way to arrange them is an old technique and yet, it's still quite unique. But, sometimes simply writing out the name in a beautiful font works great.

Another great idea is to take a picture of the facility or take a picture of the surrounding area. When you identify your beer to its home, you make more than a statement. It says, "This is where our beer is brewed" and that shows great pride others can have in your beer. Choosing a famous or memorable scene in your area really ties the beer to its home.

Those are just a few ideas you can use to come up with the design of your logo. Of course if you have a design in mind, run with that. A logo in your mind is as you as the beer you brew. So, that's the logo you want displayed proudly on your bottle.

When you have your design ideas, it's best to make everything in gif format with a transparent background. Most photo rendering software will give you a checkered area for the transparent background. What that means is that when you place that photo onto another photo, detail in the other photo is not lost entirely. It's just where the overlay takes place.
